Payroll Coordinator

POSITION: Payroll Coordinator

CITY: Etobicoke, ON


SALARY: $20/ hour+

Job Description:

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for assisting in multiple transactions relating to the companies weekly/bi-weekly payroll functions. This includes timely and accurate reporting of payroll data for the company employees. Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.

  • Prepare and administer payroll for all company employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy
  • PBalance all payroll transactions, and prepare worksheet for final signoff prior to transmission
  • Weekly filing of employees maintenance records, regulatory compliance records and internal reporting
  • Ensure all employees are paid accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Prepare records of employment, income tax forms etc
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Deliver superior customer service, ensuring a maximum of 48 hrs turn around for all inquiries arising from questions relating to payroll
  • Keep Payroll User Manual current, ensuring ongoing changes are updated in both electronic and hardcopy formats
  • Fluent in the Collective Agreements
  • Participate in Special Projects as required
  • All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • PCP certification is an asset
  • 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience is a must
  • Experience with Unionized Quebec Payroll is a large asset
  • Experience with ADP PCPW is an asset
  • Proficiency with MS office software, particularly Excel is required (must be comfortable with pivot table and v-look up functions)
  • Experience in all year end processing activities
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Working knowledge of Canadian (federal, provincial, municipal) employment and payroll related legislation, in particular ESA, CRA, MRQ and Workers Compensation
  • Bilingualism(French/English) is only an asset. Excellent English communication skills are a must
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume environment is a must
